all I really want is a squeaky toy and my own food bowl
so Cam talked me into googling myself the other day, just to see where online I appeared, aka what my kids will someday tease me about, and this is one of the sites that came up. scroll down to see why.

sleep is for the week
not a typo. The conference is finally over, and after too much to drink, too many nights without sleep, being a designated babysitter of 80 (I know, I thought by university everyone would be able to handle themselves too...), and a whoppingly successful conference, I'm ready for a week of sleep. This effort will, however, be hampered by the sudden arrival of two papers that need writing and a midterm looming on the horizon. No rest for the wicked. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

return of the sane
I don't really want to go to law school and be miserable for another four years. I'll do that later when I have some greater need for self-punishment.

In other news, today I'm again driving a moving van, this time the occasion is moving my mom and Chen into their new place. Also, tomorrow is
SHOSHANNA'S BIRTHDAY!!

why?
Yesterday I started thinking about law school again. It seems it would be really easy for me to get in, and also that perhaps there were reasons I wanted to do it in the first place. Only LAW SCHOOL??? Could I really want to go to law school? Might help with the whole world-conquering thing though...

where do days go when they die?
so I admit, I'm pretty much always busy with something. Right now, that something is a national conference and something number two is getting a paper published.

living in the future
Aren't we supposed to have flying cars or at least robots doing our housework by now? Were the Jetsons just created to instill in whichever generation ended up inhabiting the future a deep sense of dissatisfaction with their inevitable lack of jet-powered gagetry and computer-perfected families?

So that was my holiday, over now. Back to school tomorrow. This has been another one of those holidays that I'm actually happy to see end so I can go back to classes and stop having to run around trying to coordinate 1000 different things everyday and have a chance to relax. Which is what I thought holidays were for, but I'm getting better all the time at admitting how wrong I can be. At least I'm taking a brilliant batch of new classes, none of which require my presence before 11 am and all of which promise to make me at least a little bit smarter over the next four months. And after this, I'll graduate and have a degree, and event that will go largely unnoticed as it will be directly followed by the beginning of summer school, which for me will entail six credits of grammar in the form of the ever-popular course "The Structure of Modern English." The things I go through for the privilege of educating the next generation.
